 The right starting point

 Core, Extendedand your practical paper.

IGCSE Chemistry tuition should match the papers on your statement of entry. Every 0620 candidate sits three components: a multiple-choice paper, a theory paper and one practical paper. Your school decides whether that is the Core route or the Extended route.

 0620Core route

 Make the foundations solid.

Core candidates study the Core content only and sit Papers 1 and 3. Grades C to G are available on this route. A good starting point when particles, formulae or equations still feel uncertain.

Write formulae and balance equations with confidence.

Learn the required tests and observations properly.

 Practise multiple choice without guessing.

 Find a 0620 Core tutor ↗

 0620Extended route

 Reach the Supplement content.

Extended candidates study Core plus Supplement content and sit Papers 2 and 4, with grades A* to G available. This is the route for full mole calculations, ionic half-equations and the industrial processes.

Work through stoichiometry, moles and yield step by step.

 Handle redox, electrolysis and half-equations.

Structure six-mark explanations for Paper 4.

 Find an Extended tutor ↗

 5 / 6Practical component

 Prepare for the practical paper.

All candidates take one practical paper: Paper 5 in a laboratory, or Paper 6 as a written alternative. Both are worth 40 marks and 20% of the qualification, and both assess the same experimental skills.

Identify unknown ions and gases from observations.

Read scales, tabulate results and plot graphs cleanly.

Write an evaluation that actually earns the mark.

 Find a Paper 6 tutor ↗

Not sure which route you are on? Select “Not sure yet” in the form. Your statement of entry shows the paper numbers, and your school can confirm them.

 Understand it. Then practise it.

 Chemistry stops beinga memory test.

Most lost marks in 0620 are not lost through forgetting facts. They come from a mole calculation set up the wrong way round, an observation described too loosely, or an explanation that stops one sentence short of the mark scheme.

1Find the missing stepStart with your current topic or a recent piece of marked work, rather than repeating the content you already know.

2Work through it togetherConnect the idea to a worked example, then talk through why each line follows from the one before it.

3Try it independentlyUse a similar question to check understanding, then compare your wording against what the marks are given for.

A glimpse of the approachOriginal example

0620 Extended: a mole calculation in two lines.

 CaCO3 → CaO + CO2

0.25 mol of calcium carbonate decomposes completely. What mass of carbon dioxide forms? (Mr of CO2 = 44)

See the steps, not just the answer

 The equation shows a 1 : 1 ratio, so 0.25 mol of CaCO3 gives 0.25 mol of CO2.

Then mass = moles × Mr = 0.25 × 44 = 11 g. The ratio comes first; the arithmetic is the easy part.

Sitting Paper 6? Try an ion test.

A colourless solution gives a white precipitate with aqueous sodium hydroxide, and the precipitate dissolves in excess. Which cation is present?

Both Al3+ and Zn2+ behave this way, so one test is not enough. Repeat with aqueous ammonia: the zinc precipitate dissolves in excess, the aluminium one does not.

Illustrative teaching examples, not official Cambridge questions. Your actual lesson follows your route and goals.

 Current-paper preparation

Prepare for the papersyou will actually sit.

Online IGCSE Chemistry tuition can include topic teaching, past-paper review and timed practice. We match practice to your route and exam year, so an older paper does not quietly become the only guide to your preparation.

Three components, not two. For exams in 2026, 2027 and 2028, every 0620 candidate takes a multiple-choice paper, a theory paper and one practical paper. The practical component is 20% of the qualification, so it is worth preparing for deliberately.

Every topic, one at a time

Pick the topic thatis costing you marks.

The 0620 syllabus is organised into twelve topic areas. You do not have to book a full course to start: bring one topic to the free demo and see how it goes.

TOPIC 01States of matterParticle behaviour, changes of state, diffusion and why temperature and mass affect the rate.

TOPIC 02Atoms, elements and compoundsElectronic structure, ionic and covalent bonding, and drawing dot-and-cross diagrams that earn the mark.

TOPIC 03StoichiometryFormulae, balancing, relative masses and the mole calculations that decide a lot of Paper 4.

TOPIC 04ElectrochemistryElectrolysis, electrode products and writing ionic half-equations without losing the electrons.

TOPIC 05Chemical energeticsExothermic and endothermic changes, energy level diagrams and bond energy calculations.

TOPIC 06Chemical reactionsRate of reaction, reversible reactions, equilibrium and redox described in the examiner’s terms.

TOPIC 07Acids, bases and saltsPreparing salts by the right method, titrations, pH and the solubility rules you need to recall.

TOPIC 08The Periodic TableGroup trends, transition elements and explaining reactivity rather than just stating it.

TOPIC 09MetalsReactivity series, extraction, rusting and alloys, including the blast furnace equations.

TOPIC 10Chemistry of the environmentWater treatment, fertilisers, air pollutants and their sources and effects.

TOPIC 11Organic chemistryHomologous series, naming, isomers, cracking, alcohols, carboxylic acids and polymers.

TOPIC 12Experimental techniques and analysisSeparation methods, chromatography and the qualitative analysis tests behind Papers 5 and 6.

Topic areas follow the Cambridge IGCSE Chemistry 0620 syllabus for 2026–2028. Extended candidates also cover the Supplement content within these same topics.

 Before you choose

 One-to-one is notthe only option.

It is also not always the right one. Group classes and recorded courses cost less per hour and suit some students well. Here is an honest comparison of what each format actually gives you, so you can decide rather than be sold to.

A comparison of tutoring formats, not of named providers. Rates for other formats vary widely, so check them directly with the provider you are considering.

If you are comparing us against a specific provider, ask them three questions: how many students share the tutor, whether lessons follow your exact syllabus code and paper route, and whether written work is marked individually. Those three answers explain most of the price difference between formats.

What is the difference between Core and Extended in IGCSE Chemistry 0620?Core candidates study the Core content only, sit Papers 1 and 3, and can achieve grades C to G. Extended candidates study Core plus Supplement content, sit Papers 2 and 4, and can achieve A* to G. The Supplement adds material such as full mole calculations and ionic half-equations. Your school decides your entry.

Which papers do I sit for Cambridge IGCSE Chemistry?Three components. A multiple-choice paper (Paper 1 for Core, Paper 2 for Extended) worth 30%, a theory paper (Paper 3 or Paper 4) worth 50%, and one practical paper worth 20% — either Paper 5, the laboratory test, or Paper 6, the alternative to practical.

Can a tutor help with Paper 6 if I never do experiments at school?Yes. Paper 6 is a written paper that tests practical reasoning rather than laboratory technique, so it can be taught online. Lessons can cover apparatus recognition, recording results in tables, plotting graphs, qualitative analysis observations and writing evaluations that identify a limitation and a specific improvement.

Is 0971 the same course as 0620?The subject content is the same. Cambridge IGCSE Chemistry 0620 is graded A* to G, while Cambridge IGCSE (9–1) Chemistry 0971 uses 9 to 1 grading and is offered in certain regions. Tutoring works the same way for both. Select 0971 in the form if that is the code on your statement of entry.

Can I get help with mole calculations and stoichiometry?Yes, and it is one of the most common requests. Lessons can cover relative formula mass, reacting masses, concentration, gas volumes, percentage yield and empirical formula. Marks are given for method and correct substitution as well as the final answer, so the working is taught alongside the arithmetic.

Do you cover qualitative analysis — the tests for ions and gases?Yes. Qualitative analysis carries real weight in the practical paper and rewards precise wording. Lessons can cover cation tests with sodium hydroxide and ammonia, anion tests, gas tests, and how to describe an observation exactly rather than in general terms.

Are the online Chemistry lessons genuinely one-to-one?Yes. Regular Noble Educators tutoring sessions are for one student and one tutor, rather than a group class. The standard lesson length is 60 minutes. The introductory demo is a separate, free 30-minute session.

Can I study with an India-based Chemistry tutor from another country?Yes, online lessons can be arranged across countries, subject to tutor availability. Share the student’s country and preferred times in their local time zone. Our team will confirm a suitable schedule before lessons begin.

How much are online IGCSE Chemistry lessons?Sessions are €5 to €15 for 60 minutes, or £4 to £13, set by the student's grade. Chemistry at IGCSE level is €12 / £10 a session. A monthly plan reduces that: 5% off at 8 sessions, 8% at 12, 12% at 15 and 15% at 20, so 20 sessions a month works out at €10.20 / £8.50 each. The 30-minute demo is free.

Can the tutor help me aim for an A or A*?You can request support towards a higher target grade, including harder questions, clearer written explanations and timed practice. A grade cannot be guaranteed. Grades A and A* are only available through the Extended route in 0620, and your school decides your exam entry.

What happens after I submit the form? The form prepares your enquiry and opens WhatsApp addressed to Noble Educators at +91 9229648496. You review the message and press Send. Our team then discusses tutor options and confirms a demo time. Your request is not sent until you press Send, and your demo is confirmed separately by our team.
