## Questions about this course

Does my child need to know Java before starting?

The course teaches the subset of Java it uses. Earlier coding, for example in AP Computer Science Principles or Python, helps; check your school's prerequisite.

How should my child practise the free-response questions?

By writing complete methods and classes, then checking them against the scoring guidelines. The tutor sets one question type at a time, from methods and control structures to 2D arrays.

AP Computer Science A or AP Computer Science Principles?

AP Computer Science A is a Java programming course built around writing and testing code. AP Computer Science Principles covers computing more broadly and includes the Create performance task. We tutor both.
