01Your course, clearly identified
Digital Technology and Innovations in the Changing World (ICD2O) is listed in Ontario’s course catalogue at Grade 10. 2023 replacement for the retired ICS2O (Introduction to Computer Studies), not a rename of the same course.
02ICD2O: topics to discuss
Digital technology, computational thinking, programming foundations and the impact of technological innovation. Start with a small problem and a clearly stated user need, then describe and test a solution. This is the current ICD2O pathway; do not use the retired ICS2O title as if it were unchanged. Confirm the current topic sequence and full coverage using your school’s outline and the official source below.
03Building confidence in computer science
Trace a program before running it. Track how values change and test ordinary, boundary and invalid inputs. An algorithm should explain a repeatable method independently of a specific interface. Lessons can alternate a modelled example, a question attempted together and an independent attempt so the tutor can see where understanding changes.
04Use school feedback to guide revision
Bring a recent coding task, trace table or test case. Explain where you got stuck. The next practice task should check that particular skill before introducing more complexity. Tutoring supports learning; assessed submissions remain the student’s own work.
