01Start with the right curriculum
Canada has provincial and territorial education systems, rather than one national school syllabus. Grade labels, subject names and senior pathways can differ. Choose your province below before treating a topic list as a full curriculum.
02Building confidence in science
Begin with something a child can observe safely. Ask what changed, what stayed the same and how they know. Drawings and spoken explanations are useful evidence of understanding. Lessons can alternate a modelled example, a question attempted together and an independent attempt so the tutor can see where understanding changes.
03Use school feedback to guide revision
Bring a recent question, marked solution or topic checklist. Explain where you got stuck. The next practice task should check that particular skill before introducing more complexity. Tutoring supports learning; assessed submissions remain the student’s own work.
